These terms describe services provided by Nick's Tech Fix. Please review them before approving an appointment or work. I confirm your scope, price, and any travel charge before starting. An inquiry alone does not authorize work or create a charge.
1. Appointments and authorization
A request is not a confirmed appointment. I confirm the service address, schedule, initial scope, starting price, and these terms before booking. You must own the equipment or have the owner's permission to authorize the work. An adult able to approve decisions must be present unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Estimates describe expected work and cost. Completion times are estimates, not deadlines guaranteed regardless of diagnosis or parts availability. I perform only authorized work. If the scope, cost, or known data risk changes, I stop and obtain your approval before continuing. You may decline additional work and pay for authorized work already performed.
Your accepted estimate or written work authorization may specify job details. Any exception to these terms must be expressly agreed by both parties in writing before the affected work; an invoice alone does not add new terms after service.
2. Service area and travel
Distance means one-way driving miles from my business base in the Greater Katy area to the service address, using the route confirmed before booking. The distance is not a straight-line radius. I confirm eligibility and the charge from your exact address.
- 0 through 10 miles: travel is included in the service price.
- More than 10 through 20 miles: a $15 travel charge per visit, plus applicable tax, is payable before the visit. This is one charge for the visit, not $15 each way.
- More than 20 miles: outside my house-call service area.
Exactly 10 miles is included; exactly 20 miles falls in the $15 tier. Separate scheduled visits carry the same travel policy unless included in your written quote. A covered workmanship follow-up has no travel charge. My business base is a private residence, not a walk-in repair shop.
3. Pricing, diagnosis, and daily payment
The in-home minimum is $89 for arrival, intake, and the first 30 minutes of diagnosis. A selected flat-rate service replaces this minimum for the same visit; the charges do not stack. Additional troubleshooting or a return appointment is quoted and approved separately.
An authorized diagnostic assessment is payable even if a device cannot reasonably be repaired or you decline the recommended repair. I explain my findings and practical next steps. An uncompleted flat-rate repair is not automatically charged at its full price; only the agreed diagnostic charge and other authorized work performed are payable.
Labor and service charges are due at the end of the visit each day, including on multi-day jobs. I review the work and provide an itemized invoice. Prepayments are credited to the relevant charges so you are not charged twice. No routine labor deposit is required. Available payment methods are confirmed before booking; any different payment arrangement must be agreed in writing in advance.
Prices are in U.S. dollars. Parts, licenses, shipping, travel, and applicable tax are separate unless the quote expressly includes them. Tax is calculated on the actual taxable services and products, not automatically on every line item. See the service menu's tax guidance. Provide any valid exemption certificate before the invoice is finalized.
4. Parts, software, and prepayments
Parts must be approved and paid for before I order them. The parts quote identifies the price, shipping, applicable tax, and any separately agreed sourcing charge. Paid software or licenses purchased for the job also require your approval and prepayment. I do not place an order until payment is confirmed.
If you cancel before an order is placed, unused parts prepayments are refunded. After ordering, I seek any available supplier return or cancellation. Where permitted by law, a refund may be reduced only by actual, nonrecoverable costs disclosed and accepted before ordering. I explain any nonreturnable item or restocking condition before purchase. Paid, nonreturnable parts remain yours and I arrange to provide them to you.
Manufacturer and supplier warranties apply to parts separately from my workmanship guarantee. Customer-supplied parts must be suitable for the job; I confirm any additional work before installing them. Supplier terms do not remove any rights you have under applicable law.
5. Cancellations, rescheduling, and access
Please call, text, or email as soon as you need to change an appointment.
- At least 24 hours before the appointment: no cancellation fee.
- Less than 24 hours, or unavailable at the appointment: a $35 cancellation fee, only if disclosed and accepted when booking. I may waive it for a first occurrence or emergency.
- If I cannot reach you on arrival: I call or text and wait 15 minutes before treating the appointment as missed.
- If I cancel: no cancellation fee. You may reschedule or receive a refund of unearned service and travel payments. Unused parts prepayments are handled as described above.
For a canceled or missed appointment, any prepaid travel amount is applied toward an applicable $35 cancellation fee, with the remainder refunded; the two fees are not stacked. If no cancellation fee applies, the prepaid travel amount is refunded. No diagnostic charge applies when no diagnosis occurred.
Supplier delays, downloads, outages, and hidden damage may affect timing. I communicate material changes and obtain approval for additional billable work. These scheduling rules do not restrict any statutory cancellation or refund right.
6. 14-day workmanship guarantee
My workmanship guarantee runs for 14 calendar days from the day of service. Each service date is recorded on your invoice; on multi-day jobs, each day's work is covered from that day's service date. Contact me by phone, text, or email within that period and describe the issue. A timely report remains eligible even if the follow-up appointment occurs later.
I assess a reported issue with the original work at no charge. If my workmanship caused the issue or failed to correct it within the agreed repair scope, I correct that work without additional labor, service, or travel charges. If I cannot correct defective workmanship, I refund the labor or service charge attributable to that work.
The guarantee covers my work, not every future problem with the equipment. New or unrelated faults, subsequent damage, changes made after service, third-party outages, or new malware are not covered unless caused by my work. Diagnosis alone is not a promise to repair a device. Additional parts are subject to their own warranty and require approval before purchase. I explain any noncovered work and its price before proceeding.
This guarantee supplements, and does not replace or limit, rights and remedies provided by applicable law.
7. Backups, privacy, and account access
Please maintain a current, verified backup and tell me about important files before service. I can quote backup assistance. Hardware failure, existing corruption, encryption, or repair can put data at risk; recovery is not guaranteed. I explain known risks and obtain approval before actions such as erasing a drive or reinstalling an operating system.
I access only information reasonably needed for the authorized work. Do not send passwords by email, text, or the contact form. Enter credentials yourself when possible, or provide temporary access that you can revoke. Remote access requires your permission. I do not bypass ownership locks, licensing controls, or account security. Website information handling is described in the Privacy Notice.
8. Safe service and scope limits
Please provide a reasonably safe, smoke-free workspace, access to power and equipment, and secure pets when needed. I may decline or stop unsafe or unlawful work. Only authorized work already performed and previously agreed charges are payable; I explain the reason and next steps.
I use reasonable care but cannot guarantee that every device, account, or file can be restored. Security and scam assistance consists of technical help and education, not legal, financial, law-enforcement, or computer-forensic services. I do not act for you with banks or government agencies without separate authorization and legal permission.
9. Questions, rights, and updates
Please contact me promptly with an invoice question or service concern so I can review it with you. Nothing in these terms waives rights that applicable law protects. Where a transaction requires a cancellation notice or other consumer disclosure, I provide that separately; this page is not a substitute for a required notice.
Updates apply to future bookings. The terms accepted for an existing booking remain in effect unless we both agree to a change in writing. Keep a copy of your estimate, approvals, invoice, and the terms supplied with your booking.
